Haven Creek

Title: Haven Creek
Author: Rochelle Alers
ISBN: 978-1-4555-0139-7
434 Pages

This is the third book in the "A Cavanaugh Island Novel" series by Rochelle Alers. This book can stand alone as it's own book, but you can also read the other two books in the series to really understand the history of the island. The first two books in the series are "Sanctuary Cove" and "Angels Landing" also by Rochelle Alers.

In this book it is Morgan Dane's turn to find true love, with the person she has had a crush on since before she knew what love really was. But is Nate Shaw ready to give love another try after his failed marriage to a famous supermodel? Nate has moved back to Haven Creek after having lived in LA for 20 years, and Morgan has asked him to help her remodel the slave village of a famous plantation on the island. But while working together will Nate help Morgan realize that she is truly the one who can help him get over his failed marriage and give love another chance.

I personally also enjoyed this series. I couldn't wait to see what would happen next in the series and I truly was not disappointed with this book. Reading about Cavanugh Island and all the people who lived there makes me want to visit and learn about their history. If only such a place existed in real life. The book keeps you on your toes as to weather or not Nate will get over his past and love Morgan the way she needs to be love. And as the reader you can not help but feel bad for Morgan and all the jokes she had to put up with growing up that didn't make her feel pretty. It takes until Nate comes into the picture for her to realize that she is beautiful.

This book is a tale of what true love can do for you, for the one you have always loved. It shows that while you may not be with the right person the first time around that second chance at love is always the best. I suggest picking up a copy of this book at you local bookstore if you want to read about a good love story.

Platinum Promises

Title: Platinum Promises
Author: Zuri Day
ISBN: 978-0-373-86305-1
219 Pages

This book is the third book in "The Drakes of California" series by Zuri Day. To really understand the journey of Dexter and how he comes to this point in his life, I suggest reading the first two book in the series which are "Diamond Dreams", and "Champagne Kisses" also by Zuri Day.

In this book our playboy Dexter has finally found love, and it is not with the type of women you usually find him dating. This time it is with a doctor, not some gold-digging airhead. The book was light and witty, that kept you wondering in what direction were Faye and Dexter's relationship going to turn. And weather a playboy like Dexter will be able to handle a women who not only is beautiful but is also smart, and give into the temptation of joining the married life like his older siblings have done.

I personally enjoyed the entire series, it was an enjoyable read and something I would read again. I would recommend this for somebody to read as a single book or part of a series. Either way you cannot go wrong. Zuri Day did a great job with describing everything in detail in the book, so much that it makes you feel that you personally know Dexter and Faye and are watching them fall in love. At the end of this book as while as the others in the series I feel like I personally know the characters and the family members. I feel that I have the great pleasure to walk around what is described in the book as "Drake Land". I have greatly enjoyed "The Drakes of California" series and am looking forward to more books written by Zuri Day.

First Book Review...Ecstasy

Title: Ecstasy
Author: Gwynne Forster
ISBN: 978-0-373-09128-7
384 Pages

This book was a reprint from the original book that was published in 1997.

I felt the book was about two very different people who didn't know how to love each other, or talk to one another. There were many misunderstandings between the couple that could have been easily fixed had they communicated with each other. It was a very dry read for me, it took me a while to get through longer than most books for me. I still enjoyed the message behind it that two very different people can come together at a time of need and figure everything out for themselves in the end. I really wont recommend this book for someone to read because like I said it was a dry read it felt like it was dragging on and never really getting to the point of the story and it had many other parts going on, on the side that involved the main characters so they were not really focused on finding there love for each other and where it would lead without other events taking place.

What this blog is about.

This blog is just about me doing what I love to do, and that is reading books. I am going to read a book, then give my feeling and opinions on the books. I mostly like to read romance and teen fiction but really I am open to reading anything so the types of books I review probably will not really range much. For the summer it will probably mostly be romance novels, but when school gets back in session school books will be include.

A little about me!!!

Well this just a little about me before I get into what this blog is really about. I don't know how many people are going to read this, but this is something I have wanted to do for a while so I am doing it. Well here is a little about myself, my name is Emily and I love to read books. It is one of my many passions. I am currently in school studying English Literature with a concentration in Creative Writing because I love to read. One day after I get my degree I want to be a book editor and publisher.
